Is it ever enough?

My kids are driving me CRAZY! Some days I think they are unable to entertain themselves. Looking back to my childhood I don't remember needing my parents entertainment every second of the day. It seems that if I sit down for two seconds that an alarm goes off and they all start shouting out requests or orders...argh!
So, my question is this, is it not enough to take the kids to the park for a day activity or swimming in the yard or going for a bike ride for a few hours and then that is it? Don't I deserve to have a life also? Are they truly incapable of entertaining themselves for a few hours? And isn't it healthy for them to explore, discover and to gain an imagination?
Not that I don't mind giving my kids undivided attention...it is just that sometimes I need time to clean, do laundry, make a phone call, do things for my church calling or things for my business...is that too much to ask?

My New Size 10's!

On January 1st of this year I made a goal to lose a total of 40 lbs. I guess what got me thinking is...I STILL have baby fat, but no baby...it was the realization that I no longer needed to be or had an excuse of being overweight! Duh!
I have dedicated myself and have been great about sticking with it. In the beginning, it was TOUGH...I can't lie, actually somedays the chocolate and carb cravings were unbearable...let's just say, it was not a great idea to chat with me on those days, ha ha. The biggest thing that has helped me is going on the site
http://www.myfitnesspal.com/ and logging in my food intake each and EVERY day...good or bad. My goal each day is to consume close to 1500 calories a day, it is great to eat healthy because you can actually eat A LOT of food and still stay under 1500 calories! I eat A LOT of fruits/veggies now (with Grapefruit being my new favorite food of choice! YUMMY!), where before I wasn't so good at and my new favorite is High Fiber Cereals and Trail Mix...great for getting my fiber and protein in for the day...very important for weight loss! Another great site that I found was http://www.sparkpeople.com/ , it has WONDERFUL articles, exercises and tools to being successful in weight loss. My goal each week is to get AT LEAST 30 minutes of exercise 5-7 days of the week...and I can honestly say that I have been faithful to this goal EVERY week. My exercises began with turning up the music super loud and dancing with my kids, working out on my elliptical and adding in some strength training each and every day...alternating days, upper body-Mon,Wed,Fri & lower body-Tues,Thurs,Sat & core 3-4 times a week. Now that the weather has gotten warmer, I go to an aerobic class at our church Mon-Thurs. On Monday we have Step Aerobics, then on Tues & Thurs we do Jazzercise and 45 minutes of Strength Training, then on Wednesdays we do Circut training...I LOVE all the classes, they sure get me moving! On Fri & Sat I grab some of my friends or neighbor ladies...anyone that is wanting and willing and we go SPEED walking up and around the Canal...it is funny because all the ladies compete in seeing if they can keep up with me, apparantly I am a pretty fast walker, he he. In a way, I think I have my Mother to thank for that...it seems like we were ALWAYS on the go when we were younger and with my Mom being one of the FASTEST walkers I have seen in my life, we had no choice but to keep up...going to BYU Football Games was probably some of the greatest training days, if you were to look close enough, I am sure you may have seen smoke coming from under our shoes, he he.
I am greatful for my commitment to my health because I feel Amazing and have seen some great results! When I began I weighed a total of 190 lbs...OUCH! My measurements were: Waist-35 in. Hips-45 in. Neck-14.5 in. I wore a size XL in shirt and size 15/16 in pants. Today, June 27, 2008 I weigh in at 160 lbs. My measurements are: Waist-30 in.Hips-40.5 in. Neck-13 in. I now wear a size M/L in shirt and size 9/10 in pants. So....to date, I have lost 30 lbs., -5 in. off of my waist, -4.5 in. off of my hips & -1.5 in. off of my Neck.
Losing weight and becoming healthy can be tough and somewhat a struggle, but it CAN happen if you stick with it until the end! Here are some before & after pics (including my pic that I took today with my NEW size 10 shorts...WOOHOO!)

Summer

It is summer and I am LOVING every bit of it. I still would love to have a few more months of Springtime weather, but I will survive! This summer has been somewhat different, we are usually the family of many vacations, but as of today the only vacation we have been on was to Moab a couple of months ago.

Moab was great and I would say one of our funnest trips yet! The scenery was BEAUTIFUL and the fact that it
wasn't overly packed there was a much added bonus. We went with a large group which was pretty great, the group included my ENTIRE family...Dad, Mom, Sisters, Brother-In-Laws, Nieces, Nephews & my little squirt of a Brother, then Clint's parents and sister came along and also some of our neighbors and good friends. In all we had a group of approximately 10-15 Rhinos, all packed with people! Some of the trails were intense and some were peaceful and very beautiful...it was so great to have variety. We stayed in some rented condo's that had a swimming pool and just all in all had a WONDERFUL time...Thanks to Mom & Dad!

Other than the FANTASTIC trip to Moab, we have been basically just been lounging around, ha ha, not really. Brock & Kory have been playing baseball for the month of June...Brock is in Machine Pitch and Kory is in Coach Pitch. I am still trying to figure out if they have their little hearts in it or not. Brock is really good if he will just try, but the poor kid sure gets anxiety and kind of freaks himself out to the point that he doesn't do very well. And, well with Kory...I am not sure that half the time he is even on the planet Earth when he is playing. He stands there with his head in the clouds until someone screams for him to get the ball, then he runs for the ball while racing another team player for the ball and ends up tackling them to the ground...I wonder if for a moment he forgets that they are playing for the same team? hmmm?

Both of them have their last game on Friday and I will just say I am not exactly bummed, he he he.

We celebrated Brock's #8 & Kory's #6 Birthdays this month. Since the weather has been beautiful and EXTREMELY Hot, I thought what better way than to celebrate and have a WATER PARTY! Both boys had parties at our home...we had pizza, pop, water balloons, the Bonzai Slide, a Slip N Slide, a sprinkler under the trampoline and Grammy's Blow-up jumping cage...IT WAS A BLAST! The boys had a great time and really had a great turn-out with their friends and cousins. This year Brock got a new Trick Bike and an MP3 player from Mom & Dad and Kory got a MP3 player, the NEW Indiana Jones Lego game for PS2 & a remote control truck...I know, spoiled rotten kids! I can't believe they are getting to be soooooo BIG! WOW! Where did the time go?

Last, but surely not least...the boys have picked up on riding skate boards with their dad. Clint took the boys over to the skateboard shop in American Fork and
let them pick out their very own boards. Since then, Clint has been taking them to the skate park quite a few times a week...they sure like their time with Dad! Rachel has even joined them a few times on her little pink scooter.

So....as you can see, our summer has been great so far...I can't wait for what comes next!!!!
